Oxford Radcliffe Biobank (ORB) Collections Governance and Quality Manager
As Collections Governance and Quality Manager, I am responsible for the strategic management of ORB and the Oxford Centre for Histopathology Research (OCHRe). ORB is a generic biobank at the University of Oxford that supports research across many of the MSD departments as well as their collaborators based around the world. Management of research applications requesting human tissue samples and/or associated clinical data under the ORB Tissue Bank ethical approval or projects requesting access to samples from the pathology archive under other ethical approvals is managed by the OCHRe team. As part of my role, I am responsible to assess and ensure that all applications that are reviewed at the ORB/OCHRe tissue access committee can be supported by our team and they comply with all the regulations that apply to the handling and storage of human tissue and associated clinical data for research purposes. For those projects that are approved by our tissue access committee, I then line manage the OCHRe team to ensure that the processing of tissue and data requests is completed in an efficient manner.
I provide advice and guidance on all policy and governance matters related to ORB ethical approval and ensure compliance is maintained. At the same time, I have the overall responsibility for quality management for ORB including activities such as the management of audits, the maintenance of SOPs and oversee facilities for short and long term storage of samples.
If you have any questions about the work that our team does and the potential for our team supporting your research project, please do not hesitate to contact me.
