21 November 2025, Professor Jianwei Wang, COI Principal Investigator (China), has been elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in the Academy’s 2025 election.

Professor Wang currently serves as Director General and President of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Since 2021, he has also served as Head of the Institute of Systems Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (ISM, CAMS/PUMC). In addition, he is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (AAB, CAMS). His research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms and control of respiratory viral infections.

Professor Wang has authored more than 190 SCI-indexed publications as corresponding or co-corresponding author in journals such as Cell and The Lancet. His work has been cited over 100,000 times (Google Scholar) and has been referenced in several international guidelines, patents, and policy documents. He has also been continuously listed among Elsevier’s Highly Cited Chinese Researchers and Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers.
