COI Career Development Fellow Dr Nick Kanellakis ran the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April 2023 in honour of Dr Ling Felce, who was tragically killed while cycling last March. He raised £500 for The Ling Felce Award. This award was set up in Ling's name to help fund researchers to attend the Oxford Biomedical Data Science Training Programme at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (MRC WIMM).

A seasoned marathon runner, Nick will be taking part in several half-marathons in the lead up to the event. Follow his training progress here.

On Sunday 19th March, Nick raced the Athens Half Marathon. Weather conditions were very good as it was cloudy with a nice breeze.

I enjoyed the race very much and I was happy to run again the Athenian hills. I finished in 1:27:36 which is a few seconds better than last year. My overall rank was 173th and 161th for men only. Now I am looking forward to the London Marathon and getting at the start line at Greenwich Park!
