A design for a miniaturized humidity cell is presented. This generally applicable design facilitates rapid controlled variation of the humidity at the protein crystal during X-ray diffraction. A miniaturized humidity cell is presented which is broadly based on the guidelines established by Huxley & Kendrew (1953) but is of a particularly compact portable and generally applicable design.
