Cancer immunology and cancer immunotherapy

Research background and interests

Yunkai's journey in medicine and immunology began in 2016 when she enrolled in the Clinical Medicine 8-year program at Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. Joining the Oncology Department and the Cancer Immunology Research Group, Yunkai immersed herself in understanding the mechanisms and influencing factors behind the efficacy of immunotherapy in cancer treatment through clinical studies. Alongside her academic pursuits, Yunkai obtained her medical license in China.

In 2023, Yunkai joined Professor Ricardo Fernandes' research team in Oxford University's CAMS Oxford Institute as a DPhil student. Here, she focuses on unraveling the role of T-cell receptors in the immune response against cancer.
