I am a DPhil student researching the basic physiology of humans and their application in clinical medicine. I am supervised by Dr Nayia Petousi, Prof Peter Robbins and Prof Ian Pavord. I graduated from Tsinghua University and Peking Union Medical College with an M.D. degree. After focusing on clinical practice for eight years, I shift my concentration to translational research.
My primary project is to explore a novel way of estimating inflammation depth in airways. We reach the goal through the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) production in airways, as FeNO is a direct indication of inflammations. The estimation is based on two pairs of measurements and models. The first is the laser gas analyser (LGA), coming with the lognormal lung model, which defines personalised lung parameters. The second one is the FeNO-laser gas analyser (FeNO-LGA), accompanied by a simple pipes model, which with the help of personalised lung parameters, presents the depth of FeNO production. We expect the utilisation of this measurement in chronic airway diseases, like asthma, as it may reveal the responsiveness of inhaled medication.
Meanwhile, I did some job evaluating the ventilation and perfusion distribution (V̇/Q̇) of lungs in a non-invasive way and some exploring estimating severe COVID-19 patients’ V̇/Q̇.
Besides, I am superbly enthusiastic about photo shooting. You could see my personal profile here: https://haopengphoto.myportfolio.com/.
