The meetings were aimed at building up collaborations in medical research, clinical training and teaching programs between newly formed CAS Medical School and Oxford Medical Science division, in particular NDM and MRC Human Immunology Unit.
During his visit Professor George Gao spoke at a seminar on 2nd March 2016, chaired by Professor Sir Andrew McMichael with regards to the Ebola virus entry and fusion which followed on from his most recent published paper in Cell, which provided insights into filovirus entry (including Ebola and Marburg) in the late endosome and the molecular basis for design of therapeutic inhibitors of viral entry.
